Waste collection options appraisal, working with authorities including Worcestershire, Plymouth and Burnley

Project

Experience in waste collection and related logistics comes from the delivery of well over 100 options appraisal projects over a career spanning 20+ years.  Examples include:

— Greater Manchester authorities (working with Wood, on behalf of the GMCA). Provision of KAT modelling of a number of collection options in preparation for the 2021 consultation on Consistency and wider Resources & Waste Strategy proposals.

— North East Lincolnshire Council (working for WRAP).  This short assessment of resource and waste diversion impacts was needed in advance of a proposed change in collection service design by the Council comprising a reduction in the frequency of residual waste collections (linked to recent changes in recycling collections)

— Worcestershire authorities (working for WRAP and directly).  Combining the outputs from individual waste collection authority models to present comparative options for the county-level partnership. Underpinned by the need to introduce separate weekly food waste collections and with a focus on consistent service design that drives down future residual waste arisings.
